Players alternately draw from the discard or draw piles in an effort to strengthen their hands while also monitoring the moves of their rivals. The reason the game is called "23 Rummy" is that the round is won by the first player to joy rummyaccumulate 23 points. Numbered cards keep their face value, face cards are worth ten points, and aces are worth one point.
